Ditch Social media and go on an Adventure

Ditch Social media and go on an Adventure

Ditch Social media and go on an Adventure

Life is short! Ditch Social media and go on an Adventure!

We all know social media is toxic for mental health and spending too much time online is physically unhealthy. But it’s addictive, and some people depend on the internet for daily income. However, ditching social media and going on an adventure might be the best gift you can give yourself.

Don’t believe us? We’ll tell you why!

Social media is a form of virtual interaction, an escape from reality for a few minutes. While it helps us learn, connect, and get creative, it does more harm than good in the long run.

Relationships fail, unrealistic expectations and goals manifest, and takes you away from what’s truly important in life. Since it is so addictive, it makes you less productive, and when you stay away, it makes you feel more isolated and inadequate than ever.

Wasting six years of your life

On average, people spend at least 144 minutes online per day! That comes up to six years and eight months of an average lifespan. Do you really think it’s worth spending six years of your life scrolling and tapping through millions of posts? The answer is overwhelming NO.

So if you think you have been too busy to go on an adventure, disconnect, and you will find the time. We promise!

Besides the amount of time wasted on social media, here are several reasons to head out on an adventure instead.

Appreciate and connect with reality

It doesn’t matter whether you are going abroad or for an overnight camping trip in the hills. Ditch Social media and go on an Adventure, Disconnecting for a few days or hours every day will help you connect with nature and reality. Not having to share everything online makes you truly enjoy the view and mentally picture your surroundings.

Then when you look back at the moments, all those beautiful pictures will replay in your mind and not on social media. This will help you find peace, calm, and inspiration whenever you need it.

Relying on your judgment

Depending on social media posts to determine whether a place has a wow-factor is unnatural and fogs your judgment. When you share too much on social media, you start depending on others’ likes, views, and opinions to validate the beauty of space and time that they are not even a part of!

If you are present at the moment, you get to make your own decisions. Some places might look great in pictures, but might not be so in reality. So you need to be there actually to witness it and decide for yourself.

Healthier Option

When you disconnect from social media and go on adventures, your body will thank you. You will sleep better, be more productive, and do more physical activities. You will also feel less stressed, more motivated, and creative.

Spending too much time on social media spoils your posture and eyesight and makes you lazy. On the other hand, going on adventures exercises your body and sharpens your view and mental capacity.

If you have been feeling stressed lately, skip the screen time and watch how many other things you can accomplish instead. It’s your choice, but don’t you think creating real memories is more meaningful and fun than watching others live it?

Ditch Social media and go on an Adventure, What do you think?

  • Are you more excited to turn off the lap top and go travel or not?
  • Do you have any reasons you want to share?

As always,

Travel far, Travel often!

How to Hitchhike : 8 Tips for Basic Safely

How to Hitchhike : 8 Tips for Basic Safely

How to Hitchhike : 8 Tips for Basic Safely

How to Hitchhike, its a question I get asked often. Hitchhiking is a common practice that makes traveling cheaper and thrilling. If you know your way around places and people, you could gain plenty of beautiful stories and friends while hitchhiking!

However, there are always some risks involved, and you cannot be too sure when hitchhiking in a new place. So to be on the safer side, here are 8 tips to remember for hitchhiking safely.

Disclaimer : the tips presented within are for educational purposes only. I do not condone hitchhiking as there is a lot of inherent risk, more so given someone’s age and gender. I recommend avoiding hitchhiking, and proceed with extreme caution if you choose to do so.

Look presentable

The first step is always to look presentable. Remember, you have lesser than a minute to catch the driver’s attention. So wear bright, conservative clothes and look clean. No one wants to pick up a dirty and stinking stranger to sit next to them!

As you wait, make sure you are not smoking, drinking, or sitting. Just as much as you care about your safety, even drivers care about theirs.

How to Hitchhike Be confident

Confidence is vital while hitchhiking. Always act like you know where you are and what you are doing. Look the driver in the eyes and be friendly. If you are too shy or act weird, the driver might think twice about your personality and pass.

How to Hitchhike Be friendly

Wave, smile, and take time to ask how they are doing if they stop to listen or inquire. You have to make a positive impression as quickly as possible.

If you look scared or insecure, you might look vulnerable and attract the wrong type of drivers. So be bold, friendly, and confident when you approach a car.

Choose a safe spot for parking.

Most cars won’t stop if you wait at an inconvenient spot, so stand where parking is available to prevent the driver from getting into trouble. A stoplight, intersections, and gas stations are safe parking spots to hitchhike.

You can also choose a shady and comfortable area if the weather is hot since you might have to wait for sometime before you get lucky. Standing under harsh weather conditions will exhaust you faster and affect your patience.

How to Hitchhike Be vigilant

As you approach a driver, be vigilant of their mood and the other people in the car. Make sure the driver is sober and has a personality that doesn’t make you uncomfortable.

Even if the driver is welcoming, make sure you are comfortable. Follow your instinct and if it doesn’t feel safe, politely tell them to drop you off at the nearest stop. You can also refuse to get in the car if you don’t feel right.

Avoid Sensitive Topics

While some drivers appreciate a good conversation during a long ride, others might prefer a quiet company. Let them pick the topic, and if it is a controversial one, pretend like you don’t know much about the subject. Avoiding sensitive topics can prevent arguments and misunderstandings, which is crucial for your safety.

Protect yourself

If you do have any self-defense skills, carry a pepper spray or a pocket knife. Also, avoid placing your bag in the trunk and always keep your valuables close to your body so that you can get off quickly.

Prepare yourself

Finally, be mentally and physically prepared to wait for long hours. Pack extra food and water for your wait, and stay alert. Be ready to get yelled, honked, and laughed at, but don’t give up. Your destination will all be worth it if you follow these safety steps with resilience and patience.

There are many ways to travel in this world, from planes to trains and automobiles. There many people who enjoy traveling as much as you do, but then there also people take advantage of those who are in unfamiliar environments.

I hope you travel far and often, and when you do I hope you stay safe and have a fun memorable adventures!

Why are VPNs important when traveling

Why are VPNs important when traveling

Why are VPNs important when traveling

Why are VPNs important when traveling:

With the rise and demand for internet access everywhere, protecting your online information is more crucial than ever. Right now, the only way to secure your online presence while traveling is through a VPN service.

What is a VPN?

VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) are online security solutions that allow you to anonymously send and receive data. It gives you the freedom to browse and make online exchanges without revealing your real location to a third party.

They are the new technology that provides a safe online passage anywhere in the world. For example, you can access restricted websites in your country by hiding your location. It is a private portal that opens any most app and website on your device from anywhere.

However, many people are yet to learn why VPN is essential when traveling. If you are still skeptical or unaware, here is why you should consider using a VPN in your travels.

Why are VPNs important when traveling:

Reduce hacking risks:

While traveling, there are high chances that you will encounter at least one cyber predator. Whether for a Wi-Fi connection, accessing email passwords, or social media usernames, you are always at risk when using a public link. Third parties can view your online activities and access even your banking information or infect your device with malware.

VPNs protect your device and personal information from such risks.

Why are VPNs important when traveling : Secure public Wi-Fi:

When you check into new cafés or hotels, accessing free Wi-Fi is normal. However, when you use free Wi-Fi, your connection is shared by many other users. Out of them, you might encounter a fraud Wi-Fi connection and accidentally give away your valuable information.

If you use a VPN, you can safely use any public Wi-Fi without worrying about these risks! This is a big reason why are VPNs important when traveling.

Access Censored internet:

Some governments restrict certain sites and apps in their countries, and China is most prominent in internet censorship. You cannot access social media and numerous other websites in places like these.

With a VPN, you can break this barrier. It places your online location in areas or countries where these restrictions are not there, thus allowing you to serve peacefully.

Avoid location-based targeting:

Flights, hotels, and product websites often target potential clients based on location. If your online presence is not encrypted, they can find and bombard you with tempting ads. Once they bait you, they convince you to pay more than the original price. Not all service providers do this, but location-based price targeting is still rampant.

A VPN service will redirect your location and browsing habits to prevent you from becoming a target of location- pricing. You can find the best services wherever you go at the actual price of products and services without any online influences.

Avoid leaving a digital footprint:

Did you know that everything you type and browse on the search panel while using the internet is traceable? Whether you are doing confidential research or watching Netflix, your online activities get imprinted on your device. Sometimes this can put you at tremendous risks from marketers and online predators. To avoid being traced back, use a VPN service, and leave no trails behind you.

No more asking Why are VPNs important when traveling. Next time you plan on traveling, make sure to equip your device with a VPN for privacy, security, and accessibility. It will enable you to explore and use your freedom of speech and information anywhere you go!

How to travel safely after COVID-19 : 7 Tips to keep you healthy!

How to travel safely after COVID-19

How to travel safely after COVID-19 : 7 Tips to keep you healthy!

How to travel safely after COVID-19 : 7 Tips to keep you healthy!

Many countries are unlocking travel a restriction after the COVID-19 lockdown, and it is time to pack your bags and start exploring again. However, with little evidence about the reliability and effectiveness of trial vaccines, there are still huge risks. We have to start adapting to the New Normal and follow safety procedures to prevent spreading the virus.

Besides the recommended Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) ( Reference: HERE) recommended by the WHO, here are some useful tips on how to travel safely after COVID-19.

1. Gear up:

No matter where you go, never leave your home without wearing a mask. Remember that even if you are taking a break, the virus is still out there, and everyone is a potential carrier. Wear a PPE and other protection if you are traveling in crowded public transport. There is no negative consequence for being extra careful. It is by letting our guards down that we put ourselves and others at risk.

2. Always carry a sanitizer:

It’s impossible to keep washing your hands every time you touch something or come into contact with others. Since washing hands too frequently causes the skin to dry out, and may also be impractical while traveling. To avoid the hassle, carry a hand sanitizer or disinfectant and use it whenever necessary.

3. Avoid close contact and crowded places:

Try to stay at least six feet apart from people and if places you intend to visit cannot accommodate that space, try to avoid it. Closed rooms and halls like pubs, clubs, and cafés are risky areas, and unless you are sure the place is thoroughly sanitized, don’t go there.

4. Be mindful of your surroundings:

Since the novel coronavirus spreads through infected surfaces and people, always stay cautious of what you touch. Whether it is your electronic devices, door handles, ATMs, escalators, and check0in machines, use a sanitizer after using it. Do not touch your face or others before sanitizing your hands.

5. Pack conveniently:

Place your mask, sanitizers, and toilet papers in an area where you can easily access it. Following the simple precautions become much more convenient when you can squirt the sanitizer using one hand and unroll the TP with the other. Carry a fanny pack or bags with side pockets to quickly get your things without touching others.

6. Checking in a safe place:

Before booking a hotel, make sure you inquire about their safety procedures. Ask whether they regularly test the employees and guests, and the rooms are spotless after every checkout. Even if they guarantee sanitization, wipe down your surroundings again to be sure.

7. Opt for online transactions:

Most airline and rail services are offering online payment and ticketing systems for a good cause. But when you go to stores, not every shop can provide you with the same facility. So before you make a purchase, ask for an online payment method to don’t have to touch the cash or visit ATMs often.

Whether you are chilling in a hotel or lounging at a beach, let your travel destination be an airy one. Closed space contains the virus longer and puts you at risk. Instead, opt for a window seat or an open space whenever possible to avoid indirect infection. Lastly, make sure you squeeze in a few days to isolate yourself to ensure that you do not have any symptoms.

I hope you found this guide useful in your upcoming travels!
Travel safe, travel far!
