MeliOh Cafe and Bistro : Danang Vietnam
Hello blog friends and readers,
It was Saturday, the sun was shining bright and the wind was blowing gently. I got a text on my phone that said come join me for brew, bring your camera. How could I refuse such an invitation?
This is how my afternoon started, and how I went to the grand opening celebration of the MeliOh Cafe and Bistro located in Danang Vietnam, on the small island known as “blue Island”.
A few weeks ago, I drove past this place while on my way to try out another café with a friend. It looked like they were fixing it up, but I didn’t know what they were doing. My friend Helen, a good friend who had for a long time here in Vietnam, sent me a message inviting me to join her for a drink. I was looking forward to catching up with her, and trying out this new place, so I headed over yesterday.
Perhaps it was the sunny day, or the gentle breeze… But I found the location very nice. Getting there was a bit tricky, as there is lots of road construction happening, and the road is an adventure… but the location itself is delightful.
Come with me and let’s explore this new café!

The first thing you notice about MeliOh Cafe and Bistro is its unique shape. Glass panels reflecting back the world, and it’s weird dome like structure.
The blue gates opened up to this interesting location, I went around 430/5 PM when the sun was just beginning to set. I think it added to the interesting atmosphere.
In some ways, it reminded me of a location you may find in sunny California, or in Miami… But nope, this is Vietnam.
And although the building design might be a bit impractical, it does have a really fun feeling to it. I think if I was a mad scientist, a building design such as this would be good, as it has the feeling of an Observatory.
There’s also a mix of Midwestern design with the cactus, and palm trees… And while there are a lot of different design elements going on, they all fit together rather well.
Here’s a shot from more in front of the building, really featuring that dome like structure. They say the second floor isn’t open yet, nor the third floor… despite me wanting to go up there to check it out.
All this being said, the staff was super friendly. This friendliness is something I see all across Vietnam. Super friendly people, always welcoming.
Inside, the design opens up with hanging chandeliers and exposed metal beams. This, along with bricks and glass, is quite a classic feeling, and you see a lot of modern design in Danang.
I do enjoy the hanging basket lights, I have seen this style of lighting and other buildings. These baskets are inspired by fishermen’s baskets, that they use in fishing.
This is a shot of the bar, still kind of clean, I can see if they’re open for a while it can get some more unique artifacts, to help add to its personality. Perhaps some more bamboo plants in here will also add to the atmosphere.
On the counter is some lemongrass, That is a great way to keep away mosquitoes!
This time I didn’t get to sample any of their cakes for produce, but they looked tasty. Perhaps next time I will dive into one of these delectable dishes.
Most of the tables were around the outside next to the windows, and outside on the patio, perhaps only 15 seats inside, which seemed a little strange to me, but it did create a nice open feeling with the plants, where you can kind of hide in one of the corners have space to yourself.
This is my good friend Helen enjoying a beer from Seven Bridges.
The chef heard that I was a vegetarian, and cooked up a delicious bit of cauliflower for me. This, paired with the light beer from seven bridges, created a nice afternoon snack.
My friend Helen started a new job with seven bridges as their rep, so I took some photos of the beer for her to use in marketing.
This is another photo of her. I did like the way it came out and she looked happy!
MeliOh Cafe and Bistro : Danang Vietnam, a nice little place to hang out for the afternoon, meet up with some friends for a drink and enjoy sitting next to the river.
Thank friends for joining me today on this little photo journey. If you do make it to Dannag, hit me up and let’s go grab a beer and enjoy the afternoon in style at a nice place like this. 😀
Have fun and get out there on an adventure.
Cheers.
